Overview

Introducing 200 Degrees' very first House Bean specially selected for its cold brew potential. Our coffee team tried a variety of beans when searching for the best coffee to serve cold in our shops and discovered their favourite in this offering from the Bette Buna farm in Ethiopia.

This coffee was grown by more than 150 outgrower contributors living near the city of Yirgacheffe. This area is known for its high-quality arabica that presents a delicate fruity cup, a result of the near perfect growing conditions.

Brewed cold, this coffee delivers taste notes of caramel, passionfruit and lime. But it also works well served hot as filter coffee, with dark fruit flavours like blackcurrant jam more noticeable on the tongue.

Get our coffee team's recommendations on the best way to brew your Betty B. Good beans, either hot or cold.

Sustainability

The Bette Buna coffee company in Ethiopia is a perfect example of our aim to work with organisations that are sustainable for both people and planet. Grown out of a family-run farm that had existed for nearly a century, today Bette Buna has farms and washing stations in several Ethiopian coffee regions. They are vertically integrated, which means they grow, process and sell their coffee directly to customers, all while providing education and training and implementing sustainable practises that will guarantee the crop for future generations.

Team Recommendation

Mike, Head Roaster: "Now that summer is within touching distance, a cold brew is a constant in my fridge. Selecting this coffee was incredibly easy the minute I tasted it. So versatile, bringing fresh citrus and sweet tropical fruit when brewed cold, but for those days when a hot coffee is still being craved it delivers deeper blackcurrant notes. There really is no wrong way to brew this coffee."

Ethiopia

Ethiopia is historically considered the birthplace of coffee, and the best source of arabica beans in the world. Thanks to its high altitudes and fertile soil the flavour profiles here are bright and fruity and make for prized single origins.
